Guess where we were at 10am this morning?
At B&Q taking advantage of their amazing loft insulation offer
Guess where we should have been at 10am this morning
At home taking delivery of my IVF medication as agreed last Monday and I remember the lady saying one item needs refrigerating and it comes in a cooled package which lasts only 48 hours! It may be spoiled by Monday morning.
So we have lots of great cheap, special offer, will sell out in the first day, loft insulation but not the vital, possibility of bringing new life into the world, IVF medication which I need to start on Monday night, shit, how the hell did I forget that - its in large letters on the calender for gods sake.
I remembered while we were at the checkout, balancing large rolls of insulation on a unsuitably sized trolley while the checkout girl searched for a bar code (always on the back) I had a mild panic attack and we ran to load up the car. I was worried all the way home, looking out for delivery vans passing the other way with a really annoyed driver at the wheel. I hoped he was waiting for us when we pulled up but no, just a card through the door to say he had been (but no time on it) I rang the number on the card only to get an answerphone message to say the office had closed at 10.30, but they deliver up to 12pm so the depot must still be open. Then I remembered I had another number for the depot, the lady gave me a number to call if they didnt deliver before 10.30 but where the hell did I write it down?
Since I have been job hunting I had been using various notepads to write stuff down on when the phone rings. I just had to find the right notepad for this one. AARRGGHHH I cant find it! Hubby looks very dismayed 'but your always so organised' he said and I am usually, just not now, not for this.
Ok I thought, lets stop panicking and see what happens. I found the number and rang it - engaged, constantly, even after 5 rings, hmmm how many barriers will fate put in the way I thought. 'Try ringback' said hubby, I pressed 5 only to be told this number does not support ringback, hmmm. Tried the home delivery company that distribute the meds, 'open Mon-Fri only' hmmm Hubby got a number for the head office of the delivery people only to be told they didnt have any other numbers but would keep trying and call me back. 'Right' said hubby 'You wait for the call back, Im off to the depot its about 30 mins drive so I should be there for 12.20ish according to satnav, call me if you get any news' and off he went, bless him.
I did get a call back at 11.55 to say they couldnt get to the depot and they all go home at 12pm anyway so it would have to be rearranged for Monday morning. I sighed but agreed to a Monday delivery, hoping that the meds would still be ok. I rang hubby to get him to turn round and come home.
I was feeling really bad about it all then it hit me and it all made sense....... I wasnt supposed to find the phone number, I wasnt supposed to get my meds in time, I wasnt supposed to start my treatment this month, fate was stepping in with its big size 13 feet and getting in my way just as I had sort-of requested. 'Why are we starting treatment his month, its a really bad time, I havent got a job, If I get a job before IVF will I get time off? If I get a job after IVF I wont get full maternity pay, I could start a new job the same time as turning into the bitch from hell on the Suprecur. If only it could be delayed a few months...'
Maybe this was fates way of stepping in and giving me a little more time, anyway I can hear Florence and the Machine playing in the background so I think it will all turn out fine
