Theres never a perfect time.....part two

A while ago I wrote about it not being a good time to have a baby and wrote a whole list of reasons not to go ahead with IVF at this time. Well the penny has dropped and finally I understand why this has been the perfect time to try IVF.

Two reasons really:

1. Dad is dying. We didn't know this at the time but I would much rather he knew I was pregnant before he goes then to die without ever knowing. There is a chance he may never meet his grandchild but there is also a chance that he may hang on long enough, in fact, this baby may give him the reason to fight on, at least until he/she is born and maybe longer. Dad keeps saying he is looking forward to a nice family Christmas this year, and with positive thinking like that, I believe he might just make it.

2. Hubby's fertility is now in danger. Although hubby is only losing one testicle, there is a chance it was the only functioning testicle of the pair and the one responsible for our fertilised Easter Egg. When this is removed, he may not produce any sperm at all. Also the other testicle is showing signs of calcification which may stop any more sperm production in the future, so if we had waited then we may have lost our chance completely.

So even though it seemed like it was a crazy time to proceed it was possibly the best timing we could have hoped for. I am very very pleased we went ahead and I am reassured that we are on the right path at the right time. And Florence still comes on the radio when I am upset to tell me everything will be fine.

The dog days are over, the dog days are done!
