Cottage Cheese

Wed 14 April

OMG, they dont tell you about the cottage cheese do they?

Its not really cottage cheese but it looks and smells the same and its dribbling into my pants every few hours. I had to check with the nurses that I didnt have a horrendous infection and I was reassured the cottage cheese was normal with these pessaries.

The pessaries I am taking are called Utrogestan. The are pure progesterone and are normally taken orally as HRT by menopausal women, ironically when used as a pessary they support the uterus lining and keep it in place to stop our easter egg from falling out. Very good, except the tablet coating doesnt quite break down properly and turns into a creamy mush inside which gradually works its way out, hence the cottage cheese reference.

I have to insert one every morning and evening for at least 15 days, maybe more as I have a 30 days supply. I now sleep in pants and use panty liners 24/7 because the fall out is revolting. I feel for hubby though as he now witnesses me doing things that I never dreamt of doing in front of him before, like applying the panty liners, showing off my swollen belly and farting. Yes farting, sorry but I have been so swollen and so bloated that a fart gives me so much relief that it ought to be celebrated, or at least congratulated. Hubby now thinks he has married Waynetta Slob and takes some convincing that I cant help it - Im Pregnant right now!

Id better tell you about the pain I have experienced since the egg transfer. I was told that because they have messed around inside that I may get more abdominal pain and swelling. I didnt think a small catheter and a bit of fluid would cause any problems but I was very wrong. It is as bad as the egg collection, my stomach is very swollen and aches. My digestive system is causing real pain again and eating full meals is impossible without terrible indigestion and wind afterwards.

The best thing to do is to graze all day, eat little and often so be prepared with lots of small healthy snacks to take to work with you. Luckily I work in an office full of snackers and biscuit munchers so no-one has batted an eye lid that I now snack constantly but dont eat lunch. Dinner in the evening is harder though cos hubby wants a full meal but I really cant manage it anymore so he finds me eating biscuits when he gets in but I cant finish my dinner and then I go for the chocolate later - just like a 4 year old!
