I wasnt expecting a proposal, he did joke earlier that year that I could just change my name by deedpole which would be much cheaper. So thoughtful
Christmas day 2008 was lovely but the box on my pillow on xmas morning did not contain a ring. It was however a lovely necklace so I couldnt complain but my heart did sink a little.
He made me wait until New years eve before he proposed, on bended knee, in the living room while the Ting Tings sang 'Thats not my name' on the telly in the background.
Just Great, the most romantic thing he could ever ask was accompanied by the bloody Ting Tings, now I will always get a fuzzy feeling when I hear that track but why did it have to be that song? Coldplay came on the telly just after, even Violet Hill would have been better. I now also connect fuzzy feelings to the intro music on Guitar Hero as it was played for at least 3 hours that night. 'Give it your best shot' by Pat Benetar made it onto our wedding play list.
As usual hubby thought we could get married straight away, like the next day. He didnt want a big ceremony and couldnt understand why I didnt want to nip off quietly to the registry office and let everyone know afterwards. Typical man!
Now I've never wanted a big wedding, I dont know enough people for a start and I dont understand why many couples pay a fortune to feed and intoxicate hundreds of people they hardly know who end up dancing badly, falling over, snogging someone they shouldnt and throwing up on your beautiful dress, I mean come on, Youv'e Been Framed wouldnt have a show if it wasnt for those videos.
So it was decided, after much persuasion that a small function would be perfect, about 30 people in total for a late afternoon service, followed by a nice meal, then just chatting and mingling all evening. The wedding took place on May 29th 2009 and it was perfect, so perfect that I thought about becoming a wedding organiser, then I remembered 'Youve Been Framed' and decided not to pursue that career.
The honeymoon was in the Algarve in a very remote villa with no neighbours and a secluded pool. Well it just had to be done, you dont get a chance to skinny dip and have pool sex every day do you. Sorry, enough of that, this is isnt a porn page so I will refrain from giving away all our honeymoon secrets.
I had hoped for a honeymoon baby but it was not to be and I didnt have chance to mope because we decided we would put the house up for sale when we got home. I never liked that house and we both decided when we first met that we would eventually move closer to our families whenever we could. We had spent the last 2 years re-decorating ready to sell so the time was right. 2 days after landing back in the UK we were up for sale.
It took a few months to sell but early Sept we acepted an offer on the house and started looking for somewhere up north to rent. This also coincided with my 2 years of infertility so off I popped to the doctors again. This time the doctor referred us to a fertility clinic at the local hospital for tests. We waited for our appointment hoping it didnt fall on our moving date.
