A bit about me - 2008/2009

I am 33 years old and have been wanting a baby since the age of about 23 its just that I have never had a boyfriend who felt the same. I didnt find Mr Right until 2006, just before my 30th birthday. You cant exactly announce that you want a baby in the first week of a relationship but it was mentioned that both of us did want children in the future (success!)

My hubby and I first started trying for a baby in Sept 07 after visiting some very good friends and their very sweet little baby girl who was happy and adorable, She didnt cry when hubby held her, or throw up on him and he didnt drop her. Fuelled by this new confidence that all babies dont hate him, he thought that he might like to be a Dad himself. The problem with hubby is that when he makes his mind up he expects things right then - no waiting. Bless him!

At this time hubby was still only boyfriend but hes now refered to as hubby. More about that day to come.

It was Sept 08 when I approached the doctor about MY not concieving problem. I say MY problem as my cycle was not regulating and in-fact I was sure I could hear tumbleweeds rolling across my barren, deserted uterus like in the old wild west movies. The doctor quizzed me on our sex life (cringe) and I must admit I lied when she asked if the sex was regular and told her it was. I was hardly going to admit that it depended if there was anything good on telly that night. She said that we should continue as we are because she cant refer me until we have been trying for 2 years. Er hello? Biological clock is ticking here, in fact its more like that gong you hear at the beginning of an old black and white film. Hubby was not impressed when I said nothing can be done until Sept 09, he thought there must be a 12 month waiting list or something, anyway we plodded along.

Now the friend with the little girl is a very good influence on hubby, he sees her as his big sister and follows all of her advice(which is usually the same advice I gave him a few weeks earlier which he refused to acknowledge. Why do men do that?)
Now this friend is also very much on my side when it comes to ideas about marriage and family which works very well to my advantage. It was a lengthy battle to make him agree that marriage is a great thing and he should make me his wife because we are perfect for each other (her words not mine) but she did and I will always be grateful to her.
